| partners | | This was a planned just "Get-Out-Of-Dodge" day to relax some in the outdoors and to reminisce at one of my (for many years) most popular areas to vehicle group camp in the early Spring, Christmas, New Years, and off-trail hike explore. Through the years including this day trip , I have been here a total of 20 times

Unfortunately for hiking today, it was a mid-November record breaking heat day at the Byous Butte area. The whole area on the drive in is presently extremely dry with some previously torched areas which was very disappointing to see.
With the unseasonable hot temperatures today with full sun exposure, our off-trail, required route finding navigation skills to summit the first of three Byous Butte Saddles at 3333 feet lost it's appeal very quickly 
So after a short .5 mile off-trail hike in and back to my old campsite area for better views of Byous Butte under a small, minimal shaded mesquite bush, BLK and I opted for lunch and more reminiscing of better times. |
