| no partners | | I have been wanting to hike this one for a while and with the heat coming, I figured I’d better knock this one out before the broiler oven starts.
After reading @grasshopper many triplogs, I loaded up the track and headed out.
The path going up seems pretty clear. I made my way up to the little ridge and started up. When I was getting close to the first saddle, I thought about just heading straight to the 2nd saddle. It’s steep no matter which way you go, but I opted to just keeping going to the first saddle.
I was expecting the scree and steepness, but not all the grass. One good lightning strike and this entire area will go up on flames :-(.
I made my way to the 2nd and 3rd saddle and visited the high points that I could. There’s a couple up there that I might have attempted in my younger (and dumber) days. But, I was content with what I managed to get too.
The views up top are really nice. I especially loved the total view of Hewitt Ridge. I will definitely be back up to explore that area in the future.
I made my way down after having a little breakfast snack. Easier going down on this one for sure.
Lots of traffic along Hewitt Canyon Road and all of the gun enthusiasts were out in force along Hewitt Station Road.
This was what I expected. Short, steep and sweet. |
