| no partners | | Had the notion for awhile to walk out my back door and go to the park. Not likely on anybody else’s wish list. Started the neighborhood trails up the east side of the Silly Mountain complex, exited north at the last saddle before dropping down to the TH parking lot. Couple of miles of road walking past the barking junkyard dogs brought me to the Broadway Trailhead. The small lot was full, surprised by the ominous sign saying entering burn area but only saw about an acre of scorched desert. Couple of groups heading back to the parking lot before I went by the unofficial trail to the cave . The tread on this portion of the Lost Goldmine and Jacob’s Trail is terrible until just past the cave turnoff, no where to step except on the ankle busting rocks. Only saw one other hiker from the cave turnoff to LDSP , I complained to him about ruining my solitude . Enjoyed walking past the canyons on my right and looking over the East Valley to my left, extra nice having the sun at my back the entire time. When I approached Siphon Draw I called my wife for a ride back, based on her ETA went to the Prospectors View junction and took it and then Treasure Loop, timed it perfectly for her arrival. Now I can put to rest this idea about a walk to the park. |
