Wanted to get out to the center of the wilderness for those big beautiful views, decided against using Black Mesa loop not wanting to go through the desolate Garden Valley. Taken aback seeing all the normally hidden rocks along Dutchman Trail without the obscuring vegetation. Considering the nice weather was surprised to see no other hikers on the way out though I had a bit of a late start, even then the parking lot only half full, on passing through Boulder Basin saw a few hikers coming down Black Mesa Trail. Had a nice break enjoying the views up top , just before reaching Bull Pass Trail on the way down spotted a group of 5 hikers on the way down and then 2 backpackers deciding on a campsite in Boulder Basin. No wildlife and no water to report :( . Satisfying day enjoying this part of the wilderness.
