There was an old man heading to the old man trail today. Parked at the Pima Canyon TH, headed straight over to the ridgeline trail for my usual route to Buena Vista TH , did slightly deviate from it by following the use trail along the ridgeline to connect to Mormon Loop instead of dropping down Javelina. Observed the black, brown and purple inversion layer hovering over Phoenix :o On the drive home noticed the signs read no burn day instead of wear a mask! The trails at this point were not terribly busy except it appeared a school bus had unloaded 20 children at Fat Man’s Pass . Since I had just done Corona de Loma a week ago and I needed to redeem myself on Desert Classic Trail after last weeks debacle I proceeded on down Old Man Trail,in short order was passed by four older teens that looked like cross country runners , told them they were on the Old Woman’s Trail :D Stopped for a break on the way down to determine a route through the intimidating spaghetti like maze of trails below me, didn’t really help . Once on level enough ground to encounter bikers again I asked one if I was on Desert Classic but was told no , not to divulge it but this was a secret trail. Was hoping whatever neighborhood this secret trail was leading to that an Uber might be available. Instead after a short ways there was indeed a sign for Desert Classic Trail and it continued to be well signed the entire tedious way back to Pima Canyon TH, so no neighborhood walk this week. Despite the air quality it was a nice day to hike , no wildlife except one roadrunner. Next time up Old Man and down Corona de Loma.
