| no partners | | I have explored up in this area in the past and have always found it very cool. I have never hiked up from the west end, usually up from the Butcher Jones area. I found a track that @rayhuston posted on the bluffs that started from the Bush Hwy and figured I could park along the road and bushwhack my way over.
I arrived in the dark and the clouds looked promising for a nice sunrise. The climb up to the first little hill was not too bad and I made it up towards the bluffs. There is a kinda/sorta trail eventually. The colors of the sunrise were really vibrant as I worked my way over. I wish I would have left home 15-20 minutes sooner!
The bluffs are broken up into 4-5 separate little peaks. I started at the western edge and worked over my way over a couple of them as the sunrise peaked and then the clouds on the horizon blocked the sun.
There is a trail going in between the bluffs and is mixed in with game trails. Lots of evidence of deer/sheep up there.
Once it became clear the show was over, I started back. A nice way to spend Christmas Eve morning! |
