Decided to take a look at the Y Bar trail although from all descriptions it can't compete with the Barnhardt trail. We thought we would go take a look and decide if we wanted to attempt to make a loop of this by combining with Barnhardt. I really didn't expect the wife would want to, but we went and checked it out.

Hike was OK, we hiked up to the junction where you head up the steep mountain if you want to join with Barnhardt. Decided we were not going to try that. Turned around at the saddle, just after the intersection and headed back to the car.
