| no partners | | I wanted to get in one more quick hike for the long weekend and decided to hike up near Peak 2882. The access to the little ridge is quick and easy along the old Jeep road that starts just south of the Apache Gap viewpoint area. I parked in the little pull out about 100 yards south and hiked up to the ridge.
I had some friends with me and their kids. We planned to hike to the top of 2882 originally, but opted to stay on the little ridgeline below.
We came across a diamondback that rattled a little and then slithered off, and we saw a couple of sheep below the ridge in the tuff. Always very cool to see critters out there.
The heat was up in the high 90's, but it wasn't too bad as the sun got lower and lower.
Some unexpected clouds on the horizon made for a subtle but nice sunset.
We hiked back down in the twilight and made it back to the truck. A few miles in a few hours....a little sunshine, some great scenery, a couple of desert dwelling critters and a nice sunset. A nice ending to the long weekend. |
