| no partners | | I got up this morning, looked at the calendar, and noticed that it was the 3rd day of the month and I had hiked up Mount Ord yet; so I figured that I had best hike up there before the month got away from me!
FR 27 has taken a beating this monsoon season, and I bet that it has seen more erosion in the past 2 months than it had in the prior 20 years. FR 27 is no longer driveable from one end to the other: about midway between the Slate Creek TH and the FR 626 junction, there is a gully/ditch the full width of the road that is 4'-5' across, and about 5' deep. It is not easy to get across the ditch while hiking, and at some point it might get VERY difficult for a hiker to navigate across.
As bad as FR 27 is getting, the next time that I go out there I might hike up the full length of FR 626 and see what that route is like. |

Wildflowers Observation Moderate There were a lot of field bindweed still blooming along FR 27, along with several other flowers here and there |
