| partners | | Summer is always a good time to check out Lemmon Creek in the Wilderness of rocks area on Mount Lemmon. The forest was green and the wild flowers everywhere, all the creeks were running. The recent fire did very little damage along this trail because it was burned a few years back and the under brush was minimal. Because of all the fires in this area it is quite a bit different than it was 50 years ago. the forest used to be so thick there were very few views of the surrounding area. Now views up Mount Lemmon and over the wilderness of rocks abound. Can't totally say that's a bad thing but I do like it the way it was.
The trail is in good condition as it usually is and there were no dead fall across the trail. A few hikers on the trail to Aspen Saddle but after that no one. Lemmon creek was running pretty good and didn't have any issues getting across the many stream crossings. If it was much higher it may of been more of a problem getting across without getting wet. I had to supply the boulder at one crossing so I could make the hop across. Lemmon Pools was running pretty good, but the water was cold or maybe I should say a bit cool. Taking a dip in the pool was a quick one because it was a bit cool for my liking. The upper pools were running a bit too much to get into.
After the pools we checked out a few rock formations between the pool and the Wilderness of rocks Trail. With the thinning of the trees do to fires in the past the views across the Wilderness of Rocks and Mount Lemmon were great. We headed back around noon, we saw some clouds building up and didn't want to get stuck in the rain or crossing creeks that have swollen even more after a rain.
