At the beginning of FR 700 a forest management member was putting up a barricade with a closed area sign. They were grading the road but working past the trailhead parking so we were allowed to proceed. All trails were open.
This trail system was built for OHV use but a lot of the trails are single-track which makes hiking them very enjoyable. The two times we have visited the area we have never seen any OHV users but our trips have been during the week so weekends may be different. The trails we hiked on this trip were Howard, Munds Canyon, Jump Final, Ward, Rock Rut, the north end of Interstate, and part of Leap Frog.
This is a very nice trail system, nice tree coverage, a variation in terrain, and long winding trails if you like that type hiking. Weather was fantastic on this day, crossed paths with a herd of deer, and other than the FS member we saw no others. Great hike. |
