On the drives to Prescott I often thought about hiking from the Big Bug TH so after seeing the loop posted by Joe, Wally, and Chris we decided to give it a go.

Nice big trailhead so no problem getting a parking spot. On arrival there was only a RV that looked to be parked overnight. On departure there were maybe 6-7 other vehicles.

Trail conditions were outstanding and the route is easy to follow. The gentle grade makes this excellent for trail running and/or mountain biking, as well as hiking

We saw only one trail runner and one biker on the day which was kind of surprising but appreciated, and saw a pair of hunters. I'd rate the west side of the loop higher than the east but overall a very fun hike.

No wildlife seen today, but saw and collided with LOTs of grasshoppers, some as big or bigger than your thumb.

Need to explore more of the BCT so we'll be back.
