| no partners | | I was driving through Winnemucca, NV and decided to make a slight detour and drive to the top of Winnemucca Mountain (elevation of 6,726' and prominence of 1,903'). The road to the top is rather narrow but it is paved all the way.
I parked at a saddle between 3 competing highpoints, and tagged all 3 to make sure that I got the highpoint. There were some really great views at the summit area, and I was glad that I made the drive up there.
Back in the 1960's during the cold war, the US Air Force had a radar facility atop Winnemucca Mountain, and many of the buildings constructed by the Air Force are still there, so I checked those out while I was up there. |
