| no partners | | I got tired of hiking up to Bell Pass, so I decided to do something different today.
The last time that I did this hike the wildflowers were prolific; today they were few and far between.
The weather was nice for the second half of June. It was windy at the summit and I would have put on a windbreaker if I had brought one.
About 1/4 below the locked gate on FR 626 somebody was in the road using a chainsaw to cut firewood. Since that is verboten during fire restrictions I called to report it. 1.5 hours later no one had come to check on the chain saw use, so I guess that they don't care. So if you want to get your chainsaw out and cut firewood, the Tonto Forest is the place to go.
On the way back about 1/2 mile from the TH someone in an SUV was driving on FR 27 and didn't cut a corner tight enough and one of his tires was in a ditch. Hopefully he was able to get it out, but I'm not so sure. |
