Peak 3915 is a designation that (to my knowledge) was made by vanman several years ago. This green/yellow peak can be seen from the parking lot of Hieroglyphics Trail #101. This peak splits Chuparosa and Ermagerd Canyons. This peculiar peak has been taunting me each time I have been in the area and I set out to check it off the list several weeks ago.

Long story short, I had multiple unsuccessful attempts. At first I tried ascending via Chuparosa Canyon. This is probably possible but I was alone and there were a couple of class 4 moves I wasn't crazy about. Then I used a familiar route. Essentially using the Superstition Peak 5057-Balanced Rock Loop route until a turn off presented itself. I realized this would work but there was heavy fog surrounding 3915 on 1/2/2023. I decided to turn back empty handed. I am glad I did.

Today was the day. I passed through the absolute zoo that is Hieroglyphic Trail #101, continued up Hieroglyphic canyon and arrived at Balanced Rock. The use trail continues southeast until the turn off. This turn off is right at the top of Chuparosa Canyon. This is off-trail but it isn't too bad if you like that sort of thing. There are game/use trails to follow if you have a good eye. You get a good look at 3915 the whole way there.

The main cluster is a bit of a maze as you can probably tell from the GPS route. I explored a bit but not all. There are deep grooves cut across the entire top section where you will find lush vegetation, full size trees, and lots of wildlife signs. The actual peak ended up being accessible from the west side. I was almost there when I encountered a respectable sized arch. It's no Triple Arch, but you could probably drive a motorcycle through it. After the arch I made my way to the actual peak. The peak is pretty great. Excellent views of both canyons (Chuparosa & Ermahgerd) and Turk's Head. At the very top, there is a cut out you can carefully descend. It sits on the very edge of the cliff. I couldn't resist. It is very cool. I wouldn't recommend this if you don't like exposure. It is a long way down into Chuparosa.

I plan on going back to this area. This might make for a good guide candidate. Since I am pretty familiar with this area, I decided to do it without the aid of GPS tracking. Sometimes it's nice to simply intuit where to go. When I do this again I will use this route and hopefully clean things up a bit. Also, not sure what happened with this route but it didn't start until a ways into the Hiero hike. My Garmin connect put the trip at 7.64 miles and 2559 ft of vertical gain.

Really enjoyed this one.
