| no partners | | This is the fastest I have ever gone from TH to junction with EE and then back. I keep track of my time to EE anytime I am feeling competitive/exercise-ish. Today WITH STOPPING to take tons of pics - I got to sign at 34:34. Pretty good for me. So basically I jogged almost the whole way down. Not because of wanting to get away from crowds or for exercise -- because I didn't account for the absolutely NUTTY traffic on Alma School/128th even FFS /Happy Valley / Pima. Good grief every time I go out there some other road is additively adversely affected by shredding of the roads. I thought Pima was getting better (it is) but there is a huge hold up from Ranch Gate Rd turn and Happy Valley now that wasn't there just two weeks ago. You're totally trapped now in all directions coming and going to the Thumb. Anyway I had to get to school to pick up the kids by 2:20 and realized I was going to have to text my oldest to walk home or jog down the trail to get there with fingers crossed. It wasn't pretty - but I made it. And then was like holy moley I did the whole thing in under an hour. THE FLOWERS ARE THE BEST I'VE SEEN MAYBE EVER EVER LIKE EVER SINCE I'VE BEEN HIKING THE THUMB 2005ish. Go fight the crowds - - fight the traffic - - it's worth it right now. It really is amazing the number of poppies on every single slope. Lupine pretty good too. |

Wildflowers Observation Substantial get out there even if you have to deal with crowds and miserable construction traffic. Flowers are insane. Poppies everywhere. Like super dense poppies. Smattering of lupine and minor purple ones. |
