| no partners | | Started from Pittenweem at 8:35am after a wonderful breakfast of cereal, granola, fruit, toast, juice and coffee. I was at the Anstruther golf course within 25 minutes. Checked on rates and club rental, no problems. They're pretty open tomorrow afternoon so I may give it a shot.
Cool, cloudy and breezy but not windy and no rain. The trail is fairly even from Anstruther to Crail. Once you leave Cellardyke it's all shoreline to Crail. Very pretty and you don't pass many people. It says 3 miles from Anstruther to Crail but seemed slightly longer. My meter said 6.84 when I got to Crail but that includes any side trips.
Crail is a nice little village, much like all the East Neuk towns. I nosed around town and looked at several shops. While waiting for the bus back to Anstruther I struck up a conversation with a local man. We chatted all the way back to Anstruther.
In Anstruther it was 1:30pm, time for the obligatory visit to Anstruther Fish Bar. I had lemon battered sole with chips. And yes, it was as good as advertised.
Scouted the Anstruther course before walking back to Pittenweem. |
