Just wanted to check out new art in the beach area since my visit last year. While stopped for a photo at Hunky Daddy's house, a friendly neighbor woman across the street, asked me if I was looking for someone. I told her I just wanted a picture of the new banner hanging on his house. We ended up having a very nice conversation, and she checks on Laszlo regularly since he is almost 90. Of course, I mentioned that I became aware of Bombay Beach via the movie "Plagues & Pleasures on the Salton Sea," which was filmed in the early 2000's and released about 2006 or so. This is a cult classic to be sure, and Hunky Daddy had quite the zany part in the film, which made him very popular. 
He sort of became a town celebrity and has been considered the unofficial mayor. Many of the folks who appeared in the film are no longer living, so I it was nice to find out he is still with us. I have not met him and will not invade his privacy, even though Phyllis told me he was home. She said she would say hello for me.
