| no partners | | After securing my campsite at City of Rocks for Monday night, I made a motel reservation in Las Cruces for the night prior, so as to have a little time in a place I like. This time I stayed at the Best Western Mission Inn, probably my favorite lodging choice in Las Cruces. Beautiful 1962 vintage motel, with reasonably priced rooms (mine was about $80). After checking in, I headed over to nearby Mesilla for dinner at Andele Restaurant. It was packed at 5 PM with a long wait, so I went across the street to their other place, Andele's Dog House, which was also busy, but with no wait. Following dinner I spent some time walking around the historic plaza, before heading back to my room for the night.
Lots of history in Mesilla:

Breakfast buffet at the motel in the morning before checking out and beginning my busy day. Just like my last visit here a month and a half ago, I took advantage of the great gas prices and topped off the tank before hitting the road. This time, it was even less at $3.12/gallon. |
