I went back to this area to explore of the Summertime Trail. I started from the Carney Springs TH and tried to pick the most direct route to where that is, but it was still 3 miles before I got to it. I headed further east, but it actually heads more south and up the hill until it dumps you off on a dirt road that takes you back to Peralta Road. There were 2 more junctions with other trails that I found, but they were nearly a mile back and uphill again. I headed back up to Carney along Peralta Road until I found another dirt road and took that, hoping it would lead me to Carney. It just dead ended at the top of a hill, so I bushwhacked back to the Summertime Trail again and ended up deciding to go back to Peralta Road again after all to shorten up the hike and be done. I had forgot my usual snacks so I was getting hungry and grumpy. Along the road a pickup stopped and the driver asked me if I was DarthStiller. It was Ray Huston. Nice to meet you Ray.

2 miles in on my way to the Summertime exploration, there was a married couple on a dirt road at the top of a hill with a side by side and some telescopes. I asked them if they were hunting. They were scoping out for bighorn sheep for the hunting season in December. The guy then even pointed out one that he spotted and let me see it through his scope. Then he let me use his tripod for my camera so I could get a picture after he found it again. Very cool encounter, nice to talk to them and see all that. I was really surprised that there are bighorn sheep that far away from the lake where you normally see them. It was also very interesting how hard it is to spot them even when you're looking right at them from a distance.
