Around #7 I had difficulty breathing, like an asthma attack - started having that reaction after a case of the Covid this winter. I considered turning around before or at the saddle and thankfully didn't need to. I believe the culprit is all the smoke from the nearby fires. Once above the smoke inversion, I felt better and all that was left to contend with was the altitude.
Chatted with a two guys who summited shortly before me - I heard their victory screech loud and clear. Views north and west were nice, everywhere else was too smoky. Inner Basin is looking pretty yellow, surely another week or two will be even better. Hardly any foliage along #151 but the aspens are getting there - the middle of one grove just west of Humphreys had a slight shade of yellow in the middle. Soon!
Mama Burger is temporarily closed. My appetite and I found out the hard way. |
