There's a goldilocks window every year where it's warm enough to enjoy swimming, but still early enough for there to be good flow from winter runoff. Too early ... and it's still freezing; too late, and the flow slows to levels where the floaties are green and slimy, rather than the nice inflatable animals we all prefer.

While the break spots turned out to be enjoyable, getting to them does take a little effort, which makes it all worthwhile.
