| no partners | | Opted for another nearby hike today. Days of painting still has my arms and legs sore, and there’s still a lot more painting to do. I was the first vehicle at the trailhead, and got started to temps in the mid 50s, no clouds. Headed up StormKing Pkwy and took that all the way up and out of the park boundary.
From there, I headed west on a forest road around the south and west side of the mountain. Up until this point, the incline on the road had been pretty gradual. Once I curved around the north side, it got steep. Felt warm in the sunny spots too. Great views from the summit.
Mostly retraced my steps down. I wss hoping to take a few shortcuts on the descent, but they were all more overgrown. Hopped onto Majestic Passage for the final mile.
Good workout hike, kind of reminiscent of Mt Ord since it’s mostly a road walk. Only saw other people in the final 1.50 miles. Saw one rabbit and one rubber boa. Lots of deer and elk tracks. Temps in the mid 70s when I finished. |
