Windgate Pass - Bell Pass with the Gateway Pass variant added.
Nice training hike. Loaded up my pack to about 24lbs and set out. A little warm today but a nice breeze through the passes. The Tom's Thumb Trail looks complete. (Instead of turning right to Windgate Pass, keep going straight to a jeep road and turn right). Met up with Booneman coming in from Bell Pass. Split up when I headed up to Gateway Pass. Just west of the junction of Gateway Pass at Windgate Pass Trail I saw a Desert Tortoise. I get so excited when I see wildlife that I miss a few things on my camera settings. I had my CP filter on for landscape shots and I should have taken it off for this wildlife shot. Hope the photos turn out without too much vignetting. 11.3miles 2,387 AEG. Lots of Fairy Duster, Mexican Gold Poppies & fiddlenecks starting.
