| partners | | Mountain Man DarthStiller invited me to hike an easy one in the Supes. He wanted to try out a different route to get up to the Garden Valley plateau. We met up at the Horse Lot about 6am and hiked down what was posted as "the Dutchman Trail" off First Water Road. No cars in either lot when we started out.
We made the northern turn off from the Second Water Trail and started looking for the mystery route. It was easy to find and we started hiking up. The trail is very defined and easy to follow. It got a little steep towards the plateau, but not bad at all.
From there we made it up to the Arch. After a little exploring and a couple of pictures, we made our way back to the loop trail and started back towards the Second Water Trail.
We made a figure 8 loop and hiked back up the Loop trail to the ranch and up the ranch road.
Chris wanted to get in another mile or two, so we started out on a trail from the horse lot along one of the many trail in the area. After about 3/4 of a mile, the heat was starting up and we turned around.
I have done the Garden Valley/Hackberry Loop many, many times, it was awesome finding a new way to get up there. I have seen that trail from the arch, but I thought it just want back to the the Second Water Trail. Now I know, I can take the "Kiriluk KrossKut" to make it up there in the future. |
