The walk up and back was longer than the walk thru the park, but that was okay since the neighborhoods in that part of town are pretty nice. The buildings are older and made of brick or even stone, with huge porches in a lot of cases. Some lots looked like old houses were demoed and a new one built with modern architecture.
The park was pretty nice also. On the east side there are views of the Rockies, and there are several large lawn areas with old growth trees. There was a sign stating that improvements are scheduled for infrastructure and amenities.
Later on ate at the Buckhorn Exchange, the oldest restaurant in Denver. We walked there from the hotel also, which was nearly the same distance as the stroll, so I got respectable 11-12 miles in for the day. This was offset by the 16 oz buffalo prime rib I had for dinner, not that I cared much about that. |
