| partners | | Less than 24 hours after landing in AZ and mildly jetlagged, I was back on the trails in the AZ heat. I almost didn't make this hike due to a missed connecting flight in London (never, EVER, EVER, EVER go thru Heathrow airport if you can avoid it, BTW). After getting some sleep on Saturday night and setting my alarm, I found myself feeling ok enough to give it a go for a shorter Sunday hike.
I met Andy at the horse lot by First Water. I was wanting to hit the arch by Garden Valley that Dmitri and I bailed on a month earlier when I started to take the wrong trail and we were beginning to run low on water. Andy and I found the bottom of that trail I discovered that day and hiked up to the arch from there. From there we hiked back around and over to the ranch by the wash that runs by Hackberry Spring further downstream. From there we hiked back to the horse lot and then did another half mile out and back to get a bit more mileage.
Nice to get a quick early hike in before it got too hot and avoid going jogging later in the heat of the day. Also nice to do more exploring on more trails I hadn't hiked yet. Thanks for meeting up for this one Andy. |
