Used “use” trails, Perle Charles, and the Nature Loop to get to the south end of the Yates. I knew where I wanted to get, but it seemed like I had a lot more options to get to the Yates. Not sure if it was because of the darkness or the continuous onslaught of “route creations”, that gave that impression. Not near by, but I was serenaded several times by two different packs of coyotes. Music to my hears. Took the Yates back to the TH. Wow! What a difference two years make (the last time I hike it). Some major trail maintenance has been done on multiple sections of the trail. Notable, the descent coming down from saddle where it junctures with the Nature Loop, as well as both sides of the saddle along its eastern arm. A little bit on the south side of the saddle, but an extensive amount on the north side. Much cleaner. These segments still look fresh so this is a recent development. I noticed that Tibber and the Gecko mentioned it in their January logs. I like it.
Great morning. Mild temps with minimal breeze. Done before sunrise so didn’t get to enjoy the morning colors. Only encountered one jogger along the way. Besides for the vocal coyotes only saw one rabbit. |
