Took the Flume out to the South side (about 2.47 miles from TH), but opted not to do the road section of the Flume. Instead, I followed rock gabions into the wash and out to the Cave Creek Bridge. Went under the bridge and tagged the trail in the North Sonoran Preserve (I think it is the Cliff Walker Trail), and turned around. Some interesting remnants near the bridge. A signed parking area, which I’m not sure how you would get to, several cement platforms and a couple of benches. I’ve been out this way at least once before, but I don’t recall these artifacts. The mind is a terrible thing to waste. Sadness. Took the same trail back to the TH.
Perfect weather. Only saw 5 hikers near the last .5 miles of my hike. Quail was the extent of the wildlife. |
