| no partners | | From 38th St counterclockwise. I thot I started slow but HAZel said 18:30 so I felt better about my hike. There were quite a few hikers out and their dogs. Also some wildlife including small butterflies.
Coming off of Per Charles #1A I hoped to crossover to #8 LV Yates but I ended up on #304 for a bit and then was able to head east. The crossover trail is pretty rutted out. I gave thot to not doing Quartz Ridge and just keep going on #8 but I kept to my original route. I thot Quartz Ridge #8A was more of a hill but it's actually an in and out of two deep washes and the hill is at the end. I do like this hike between the hills. I wanted to get a picture of the cholla patch but the sun was just in the wrong place.
I spotted the new construction up at 36th St. Looks like it's way too big for a Starbucks, darn! How cool would that be. The west side of Ruth Hamilton #8B has been beat up quite a bit. Once over near the junction between 8 and 8B, I decided to go down the parallel trail to 8A as I really don't like going north down the LV Yates Trail. I hadn't been down this trail, which is like scree, for a very long time.
I rounded the corner between the wash and the mountain and I continued going round that mountain rather than straight toward 38th St; I didn't realize the trail did that for so long. No big deal, I know I'll eventually get to go north again. The clouds in the sky were getting my attention so I had to take a few photos. It was starting to get chilly, especially when I hit the shade.
No beer today as I needed to go to Trader Joe's. If you haven't been there this holiday season and if you like sweets (chocolate/peppermint), OMG! there is some great stuff there. I really just went for milk and eggs and some fruit for my Cranberry Conserve and walked out with a lot more than that
PS The Gingerbread coffee is delish!

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
