| no partners | | Didn’t intend to do this hike, but rerouted here because I was late to the game at Finger Rock TH and there were no parking spots left.
Started around 9:30 and immediately passed a few groups. Strangely, nobody at Maiden Pools when I arrived there. Our recent snowfall has melted into the pools and filled them nicely, and there was flowing water throughout the canyon above the Maiden Pools area.
The flow was so pleasant and enticing that I took many detours to enjoy waterfalls and pools big enough to swim in.
Between the late start and all the distractions along the way, I ran out of time for more ambitious destinations such as Kimball or the window. I stopped at a little slot just below the switchbacks to Finger Rock and Esperero to have a late lunch before turning to head back down.
Only one other hiker above the pools, so nice solitude and quiet (other than babbling waterfalls). Trail in good shape with marginal stickery and pointy overgrowth. |
