Started in the dark, but city lights, a half moon and clouds may a headlamp unnecessary. By 5:30 the coming sunrise took the feeling of hiking at night away. Took the back end of the Mormon to the National and the National up to the western end of the Hidden Valley. I’m always surprised at the challenge of the rock descents. One of these days I’m going to find myself crawling through them or going around, but not today. Continued with my loop by taking the National down to Pima Wash and then onto the Pima Canyon Loop, (previously the Beverly Canyon Trail), back to the TH. It was incredibly overcast day with a steady breeze. Actually thought I felt a few drops, but it could have just been sweat. Love days like this! Only saw two rabbits. Encountered 12 hikers, 5 bikers and three joggers. Most of the activity occurred descending the National and afterwards. I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy the trails and the weather. We don’t get this combination very often. |
