Amazing Trip. Not as difficult at Devil's Chasm but close, certainly longer. The trail was much easier to follow then I expected. I was prepared for serious bush whacking but it wasn't all that difficult. All the descriptions Ive read describe difficulty with the manzinita trees but it was pretty well beat down. The stream crossing at Devil's looked easily passable with my Jeep but since everything I read said to park at the Devil's Chasm TH and because we were out there with one vehicle I decided to play it safe. The worst part of this hike is it left me with an even stronger desire than before to do all the Ruin hikes in the area.

I think the distance is a bit off on this one. My GPS put it at 13.5 Love this hike but it was far better when I did it in Febuary. The strem was flowing then and it made the hike that much more enjoyable. Had lunch today in the dry creek bed. It made for some nice shade but I'd perfer a creek side lunch like I had the time before.

We left Scottsdale early morning on the 24th of May. Got to South Rim at about 12:30 PM just in time to check in for the trans canyon shuttle. Then we took the 4.5 plus hour shuttle ride to the North Rim. We arrived at the North Rim CG at about 6:30. I was surprised to see they sold firewood and beer at the general store! It was 29 degrees and super windy that night and I froze my butt off. We left the CG about 7AM and took the trail leaving the Camp ground over to the North Kibab TH. There was actually a bit of snow on the trail here and there. The decent into the canyon as breathtaking! Water was available at all stops along the way. I actually got most of my soreness and blisters from the hike down. We arrived at Cotton Wood CG at about noon. We set up camp, ate lunch and rested a bit. We then decided since we had so much daylight that we'd hike a few miles and go check out Ribbon Falls. Ribbon falls was so amazing that we hiked back in the next morning on our way to Phantom Ranch. The hike down to Phantom was pleasant and the scenery was just unbelievable. It got quite warm I'd say a high of close to 90. We arrived at Phantom Ranch Mid day and enjoyed some much needed ice cold Tecate. We also went and hung out in the stream that runs along Bright Angel CG. The water was so refreshing. I woke up that night to a large ring tail playing on the cliff side of our campsite. We broke down camp in the dark and set out at sun rise for the long hard trek out to the South Rim. This is hands down the toughest 10 miles I've ever done! Most of the Bright Angel trail is straight up full of unrelenting switchbacks. Luckily water was readily available at all the rest stops which meant we could carry less water. We took a much needed long rest at Indian Garden and then hiked the rest of the way out. Our group of 4 split up shortly after Indian garden and went at our own pace. It would have taken much longer if we were constantly waiting up for each other. The first in our group reached the top at 10:30 AM. I got out at noon and our last member at 3. Be aware you will run into hordes of people the last 2 miles. Most are people just visiting the South rim for the day. I've never encountered so many discourteous people in one place. I literally had to stop a few times or get out of the way from the traffic coming down hill. I even got shoulder bumped but one guy. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't uphill hikers have a right of way? I think maybe its just common courtesy, Seriously they are hiking 2 miles and I'm on the tail end of a 3day 26 plus mile hike with a 50 pound pack. Clearly I'm struggling and I don't think it would kill you to stop and step aside for 2 seconds.

This was an amazing trip. I'm so happy I did it. I'm looking forward to doing it again someday. My only advice would be to take another day. Do it in 4 days and camp another night at Indian Garden. That 10 mile hike out from Phantom is a real killer. Also check for water availability ahead of time then you can carry less water weight.

Awesome day hike loop cose to home in the McDowell's. Parked at 104th street trail head. Took the trail north up to levee trail then used cross cut trail to Bell pass trail. From the top of the saddle I continued down to East end trail and continued on up to Tom's Thumb trail. Tom's Thumb turns slightly and heads back down. Using part of gateway trail I was able to complete this large loop.

Close to home hike. This one start right off with steep switchbacks, really got the heavy breathing going. There were far too many people on the trail for my liking and I nearly got pushed of the trail by a guy riding a horse up the switchbacks. I really enjoyed the views and the interesting rock formations. I took a 1 mile side trip on the look out trail it had some great views of the city and felt a bit less traveled.

First hike after a 7 month injury. It felt great. I love this hike. The 8mile dirt road drive in, the river crossing and the ruins all give this hike a real feeling of true adventure.

Great easy going hike. It was perfect for getting back after a 70 day stint of not hiking due to a pesky foot injury. The climb up to the arch itself was extremely steep but worth the effort.

This hike is well marked and is actually well maintained considering how hard it is to get out to the trail head. I think all the rain we got has made theses roads much less passable then in previous years. Had a great time! A few little water holes made this hike a bit more interesting but they would probably be non existent most of the time. Quite a few interesting rock formations. I did come across a wild burro. He wasn't very happy to see me and made that known with his loud noise making. Castle Hot Springs road was in bad shape and had lots of deep flowing water. Is it just me or is the Castle Hot springs resort a creepy looking place? It's kind of weird is so out of place.

Third time hiking this but it was so diffrent. Because of all the rain we have had this hike was far more technical. Had to cross the river and a stream tywo times and navigate along the river bank. Now I know how the hike was previously discribed in the hiking guide ( hiking Ruins seldom Seen)

Awesome Trek from the North side of the Superstion Wilderness to the South side. Amazing views along this 11.2 mile one way hike. Great day, Sun was shinning and the creeks were flowing. Big tip! DON'T forget your keys to your vehicle at your destination in the vehicle at the start point. And don't discover this on the last mile of the hike. Thanks to some very friendly hikers everything worked out ok.

Attempted to get up to burro flats but due to the recent rain the road was closed. Since I drove all the way up I thought I'd just explore around a bit. On the way up I saw a car parked along the road at what looked like a trail head. It turned out to be a great little hike. I just followed the diffrent paths and wandered up washes. at about 2.5 miles I bush whacked up to the top of a peak and got a great view of Hells Gate. I saw a huge carcus of a dead something. Horse or Cow I think. I also found a bunch of sweet petrogliphs around some of the washes.

Torn on this. Half this hike was boring and had the typical desert landscape. The other half ranked in my top 5 for most beautiful and senic hikes. I'd say half of the hike is up a sandy wash and is a great workout digging thru the loose stuff. If I go again I may go in the reverse direction that way I'm seeing things in a diffrent view and the oven is toward the end.

I followed Table Mesa road (main road) from I17 and it stopped at a Gate just before the river bed. Signs stated this was part of the lakes preservation area and that a fee was required. I parked in the designated parking area and continued to head to the Mesa. This area has obiously changed since the discription in the falcon hiking guide (ruins seldom seen) was written but the plus side is the gate now increases the distance of the trip. My GPS died at some point during my way back so baised on partial data I'm estimating a round trip distance of aproximately 4.8 miles. I was surprised that the ruins were in such great shape due to the fact that the old jeep road runs right along the mesa's base. Great views from the top!

Long hike up and down over rolling hills till you reach the bottom of the mesa. Then a strenuous climb up some switch backs to the top of the mesa. Navigating to the ruin is fairly easy, just head straight to the North till you cant go any further. The ruins are very hard to see until you are practically right on them because they are not very high and many of the walls have toppled. The highest wall was no more than waist high. I was expecting larger ruins an was left a bit disappointed at first. The impressive part is the amount of rooms. If you can imagine what they may have looked like when all intact the size must have been impressive and housed many people. Also if your into pottery shards this is the perfect hike for you. The ground is literally covered with pieces of pottery. Remember please don't take anything from these ancient sites, take lots of pictures but leave them for fellow hikers to enjoy.

Nice easy going hike. The ruins were awesome! They were still very intact. I actually stumbled onto them, I thought them to be further down the canyon. The ruins are very well hidden because the really are not very high up on the cliff wall so they sit behind some trees.
