| no partners | | From Salt Flat TH, I took Willow Spring Trail up and Pine Mountain Trail down. This direction worked well - there are good views west on the descent on Pine Mountain Trail. The trails are in decent shape but often faint. I think it's because they don't get used much, not that they aren't maintained. I briefly lost the trail on the Verde Rim Trail section near the (current) summit. Getting to the summit is a short bushwhack.
And I don't think they get used much because the road is rough and rocky. It took me an hour to drive the last 7 miles (in both directions). I did it in my Subaru Forester and maybe scrapped a couple times. |
