this hike was on my wish list for a long time, but the drive kind of discouraged me
hooked up with sam and patrick for the first time, as they wanted to do it, too
i loved the hike - short flat warm up section, then a steady incline up to a ridgeline, on top of the ridgeline, and then leaving the ridge for a mild scramble to quartz
can't see the peak until partway up the ridge, and the closer you get, the more striking it is
the ridge and the scramble were a lot of fun
great views all around of the west side ranges, and a different perspective of south mountain
another peak that i would do more often if it was closer
took a good look at butterfly - next time
the road wasn't bad at all in my truck, although patrick might feel differently ;)
no one else there
the boys should have some good photos
nice meeting and hiking with you, sam and patrick!
