| no partners | | picacho peak is another hike i haven't done in several years
it's a fun one and i've been wanting to record the peak on haz
long drive for a short hike, but the park closes may 25th, so i headed that way after work this morning
got going around 8:00 and it was still cool enough
don't remember all the cables below the saddle - are those recent?
hit the saddle and promptly lost half the elevation i had gained before ascending again
had a good time on the cables, stairs and railings
spent a few minutes on the summit chatting with a couple folks, then headed back down
just below the saddle, heard some kind of raptor cry, and saw a young one perched in an alcove above my head
tried to climb up to get a good shot, but it was around a corner
will have to see if my photo turns out, but i think it will be too far away and blend into the rocks
cool to see it, anyway
the lady at the visitor center said there are perigrine falcons in the park
the visitor center is new since i've been there
glad the state didn't close this park
saw maybe 8-10 people although the parking area was full
worth the drive |
