| no partners | | A day on the GRC's passage doing chores. We placed a water monitoring tub in Red Mountain Seep, left 20 gallons of water at the trail/road junction north of the river, cut up a huge saguaro dead fall across the trail, and created an ATV barrier where the trail was being abused.
I was quite amazed to see Red Mountain Seep still flowing, it has been a month since we were there last and I was sure it would have dried up by now. |

| | We placed a tub in the flow to monitor it. The blue tub is buried 12-18 inches in the ground with rocks around it, creating a "sink" to collect water. A yard stick attached to the inside of the tub provides a measure. Users and passers-by are asked to note the volume of water in the tub on a paper in a plastic gallon jug in a cairn near by. BLM will use the data in managing the water and water rights, if any, on this source. Hikers are welcome to treat and use water from the seep. | | _____________________
