Driving into Superior I noticed a sign about Hatch chiles being roasted in downtown Superior. I checked it out and it was being done at the main grocery store. Figured I would stop by after my hike Sunday on the way back home and get some. Trouble is, by the time I arrived in Superior it was 5 o'clock and the market had just closed for the day.
I decided I would come back up during the week and buy some, as it is a nice drive anyway. Went up through Winkelman and Kearny this time, stopping at the Ray Mine overlook for some photos of the big copper mine pit there. On to Superior, where I purchased half a sack of roasted x-hot chiles and checked out the grocery store. The Save Money Market is a pretty nice small town store with a very reasonable meat department. Bought some homemade chorizo and a a steak as well.
Stopped at Los Hermanos for lunch before heading back home by way of Florence. A bottle of Bud, green chile burro, and bean tostada for $8.73. Hard to beat that deal!
Los Hermanos and Superior rocks! |
