| partners | | I hadn't been up Pat Scott Canyon in a few years, so I was looking forward to this hike. Plus, I was feeling a whole lot better than the day before when I struggled to make it to Carr. Must have been a bad day, as I was back to normal for this one. I think it was the bacon that made things all better on day two!
We both had it in mind to make an attempt at Ramsey Peak when we started, but as the day progressed we realized that was not to be for a number of reasons. No real problems with the weather, as we were prepared to hike in the storms if necessary. It was more about energy and time. By the time we reached the Crest Trail it was probably too late in the day to attempt it without the likelihood of finishing in the dark. It wasn't the main goal anyway. Showing Kelly these beautiful sections of trail down in the canyons was the mission.
After sizing up the situation, we decided to head over to Bear Saddle and down Wisconsin Canyon so Kelly could get a taste of the Crest Trail, but new thunderstorms were popping up in that direction as we prepared to embark, so the decision was made to go back the way we came.
The drive back on the Greaterville Road for variety provided us with an excellent sunset and full moon rise. No doubt about it...another fun time was had in the Huachucas! |
