Jack is almost never down here in the summer months, so I wanted to show him something down this way in its summer finest. 
So back to the Huachucas it was! 
Not wanting to do the hikes I had just done with Kelly, I thought it would be cool to head down to the Nature Conservancy Preserve in lower Ramsey Canyon and hike up canyon on the Hamburg Trail to where it meets the Comfort Springs Trail at the old mining area. The reason for this was two-fold: I knew it would give him a great introduction to the range by hiking in a shaded canyon with a running stream, and though I get down to the preserve on occasion, I haven't hiked the trail toward Hamburg in over 30 years! Thunderstorms failed to develop (drat!), so being in the shade of the beautiful canyon was welcome.
