From Safford, we traveled south on hwy 191 to I-10, where we went back west to Willcox. At Willcox, we rode south to Chiricahua National Monument. Highway signs marked the route very well from there. We have Senior National Parks passes, so we weren't required to pay the park fee. Jim has trouble with his knees, so we did short hikes on Echo Canyon Trail and Massai trails. It is a spectacular park and well worth the trip. Short for time, we took I-10 back to Phoenix, then the 202 to reach our homes. The total mileage was 485 miles from Mesa. |
