| no partners | | From Mesa, we drove to Maricopa and drove in from the south. We were driving a Honda CRV and it was good to have 4 wheel drive on this road. I don't think the road would be passable with anything less. We found the trailhead easily with the description on this website. The restroom was clean and had good supply of tp.
We signed in and began the arduous journey up the hill. Saw lots of flowers and lizards along the way. I had seen some pictures from some time ago that made the peak of quartz seem to be a bit more impressive than what was actually there. It was pretty gratifying to reach the top and take time for pictures. We made our way down and drove the northern route out through Goodyear.
That road would probably be okay for a passenger car, but the sandy roads were quite deep.
This hike was on my wish list, but probably would not make a return visit. |

Wildflowers Observation None Saw lots of flowers and flowering cactus. Some I couldn't identify, but did see brittlebush, globe mallow, lily and chia. |
