| no partners | | Got an early start this morning at 7:10 from the Pine Trailhead. Plan was to hike both #27 and AZT #28. Bob was planning on doing the upper end of 28 after work and could shuttle me back. I love it when a plan comes together. Thanks Bob!
As for the hike: 27 was especially nice and all springs and creeks were wet. Trail was in great shape and well signed. Travel was easy except for the last .75 mile up to the top of the Mogollon Rim. That was a bit slow going but still did the first 19.1 miles in 5 hrs and 41 minutes.
Took a short break and headed off on 28 at 1:00 sharp. Not much water on this trail except the mucky river next to the trail in the first couple miles. 28 was nice but 27 was the clear winner for me. This one was easy to follow as well but the trail wasn't in as good of shape in a couple spots. Nothing major.
Crossed paths with Bob about 9 miles in as he was doing his part of an out and back from the northern end. I continued on and finished up at 5:40. Bob showed up an hour later and was kind enough to shuttle me back to my car. Good stuff!
Note: The GPS track is for AZT 27 only. My device won't last 35 miles. It did hang in for 7 miles of 28 but that was it. |
