AZT 27 N2S. Continuing my work on the Arizona Trail from North to South, I was able to catch a ride from the Pine Trailhead up to the General Springs Cabin area. It was time for HAZ Fest 2012 and Bruce was kind enough to give me a lift. Thank you Amigo!

Going this direction is mostly downhill compared to doing this section from south to north. However it wasn't without it's climbs as the Highline Trail is pretty much a roller coaster of ups and downs.

On the way down I took a side trip over to the Railroad Tunnel which was pretty cool. Also near Bear Spring and near the Geronimo Trailhead it was raspberry heaven. I attempted to put a bunch in a bag that Bruce kindly gave me. In theory this was a good idea. Unfortunately the thorns on the bushes poked a few holes in the bag and the next thing I knew it was dripping red sticky juice all over my pants and shoes. What to do? I had picked about 2 pounds of these little devils. Towing them out was not an option so I indulged. :D

After the hike I took a ride to Payson and had a little Mexican food. It was as that time that I decided to make the trip back up and join the fellow HAZer's for the Summer HAZ Fest. I'm glad I did because it was great to see some familiar faces as well as meet some new folks. The party continued late into the evening and I hit the hay in the back of the Jeep around 1am.
