san juan road is still closed, making it difficult to access alta trail
recently saw that 9l and kyle had hiked to maricopa peak via warrior trail, so i filed that option away for future use
this hike fit today's criteria of a peak, some aeg and the ability to get home by 11:00 for the nfl playoffs
getting to the 19th ave trailhead is interesting with sheep, goats, horses and cotton fields along the way
up warrior, which is nice and steep
pick up alta at the ridge, then over to the maricopa peak spur trail
visited both sides of the peak, then had to go back to the north because i left my long sleeve t-shirt on a rock
didn't stay long, and with more time i might have done all of alta, or a loop down instead of warrior
seem to remember not liking warrior at all descending, but didn't find it that bad today
cool and overcast much of the time
saw one other person the entire hike, coming up warrior on my way down |
