A good group of people staying in and around the White Mountains area over this chilly Memorial Day weekend got together for a leisurely stroll along the Thompson Trail, which parallels the West Fork Black River.

It was in the upper 40s, but occasionally the sun came out and warmed things up for a few minutes. We took our time and headed all the way to Deadman Crossing where we had some snacks before heading back up to the trailhead.

I hadn't been here since before the fire, and was happy to see that this is still a scenic spot, despite the significant burn damage on the hillsides above the river.
