| A bunch of people were going to be in the White Mountains over Memorial Day weekend. Some campers, some staying with friends, etc.
Several of us met for a hike on Sunday, and others popped in and out of a nice camp spot over the course of the weekend.
When we arrived on Friday, it was snowing and cold. My plans for shelter were thwarted by the unexpectedly strong winds which accompanied the snow squalls. With fire restrictions in place we almost bailed for a last-minute invite to a local cabin, but the weather cleared, and we prevailed and settled in for a chilly night. Luckily we knew what we were getting into and were prepared with warm clothes, blankets, etc.
Snow showers hit again on Saturday and Sunday before Monday turned into the highlight of the weekend. It was a little slow getting out as the Wilderness Beast had a tough time starting. Heating some diesel, some fuse swaps, and maybe a beer or two, and everything was back in order for an easy trip home.
Fun seeing everybody again, and meeting an awesome new puppy. Hope to see future haz trips with Rincon as he gets a little older. |
