| no partners | | | Last Sunday I joined my brother and his friend to check out the Woodchute Trail 102. It was a beautiful day for a drive up Mingus Mt. We got to the trailhead shortly before 8. had the place to ourselves. My bother and his friend were going to try to go to the end of the trail and back while I was just going a short ways. The trail starts off through a pretty wooded area then starts to follow the side and top of a ridge. Eventually affording views toward Prescott Valley on one side and Oak Creek Canyon the other with the San Fransico Peaks in the distance.There were light amounts of flowers present. Some yellow and light purple the most prevelant. I turned around after about a mile and a half.Though I did not make it as far as most I had a very enjoyable time on the trail. My brother and his friend came back marveling about the climb, the views and seeing some wild turkeys. For a short hike or a long one this seems to a great trail to enjoy and introduce oneself to Mingus Mountain. The exscursion was topped off by a great meal at the Haunted Hamburger in Jerome. |
