| no partners | | I'd been wanting to get to the southeast corner of Black Mesa and it was dry enough to get pretty far down the dirt road. Unfortunately the rains have made the grass tall and thick so walking the rocky ground was tricky.
I started down a canyon where I'd found a lot of rock art a few weeks ago but didn't find much new as I continued further down. I decided to exit out a spur canyon hoping I'd find more, but no. I continued along the mesa edge and on to the isolated mesa at the far SE corner of Black Mesa. This is a cool spot with great views but I didn't see much to indicate the ancients spent much time here.
On the way back following the east edge of Black Mesa I came across a small knoll which looked like an obvious Indian site which was probably a lookout or small fort overlooking the Agua Fria.
So I didn't find as many cultural signs as I had hoped (e.g. zero pottery sherds), possibly because of the thick overgrowth, but I did finally get to that corner of the mesa. |
