| no partners | | I noticed this bump along Dugas Road was going to be close by on this day. It looked like the kind of place the ancients might have put an outpost. The googleverse came up with exactly one hit to "Estler Peak Ruins"...no details...but I thought I'd take a look.
Nothing impressive but on top there is a ring of rocks and the remnants of a stacked wall. I didn't notice any pottery but that's not unusual for a lookout/fort.
I poked around on the far side where there were some outcroppings. Nothing much to see but I was startled by a nearby "bark" and a few seconds later saw a javelina running away. Later while traversing back to the car they scared me again by bolting out of a Juniper I was passing by (Dad, Mom, and Baby). I also saw a deer at a distance but that was OK. |
